What a beautiful Sunday for pickleball! Eighteen teams turned out to add the cherry on top for some really sweet play today.
Only one team in any bracket made it through the initial round robin undefeated to qualify as the top seed in the Champions bracket. That was the team of Jason Hedden and Kellee Maher coming out of the White bracket. In the Red bracket with a 4 wins were the duo of Kerry Schilling and Perry Olson and 46 points scored. In the Blue bracket were the team of Maureen Plainfield and Danny Dowsett, also with 4 wins and 51 points scored. Due to the higher points total, Mo and Danny earned the second seed over Kerry and Perry. And the best of the rest for the fourth seed in the champions bracket were Dana Dodge and Jim Bruton, with their only loss being to Jason and Kellee by a single point.
For the Consolation bracket, we had several contenders, each with 3 wins. We actually needed a quick audit as one of the records wasn’t fully updated to correct seed the bracket. Coming in at fifth were Brenda Glenn and Mark Montgomery at 53 points. Sixth went to Vicki Babbe and Bob Moeykens, followed by Jackie Bain and Kevin Gardner with 47 points, and Michaele Danielson and Steve Oursler with 46. There were a couple of other teams finishing with 3 wins but miss the out at 43 points (Tony Chiravolo and Vickie Ostrander) and 40 points (Chris and Janna Armstrong).
In the Champions bracket, Jason and Kellee continued their winning ways and finished unbeaten to take the Gold. Maureen and Danny slugged it out with Dana and Jim, 12-10 in their final game to get the Silver. Dana and Jim earned the Bronze by gaining a victory over the ‘youngsters’ Kerry and Perry.
In the Consolation bracket, Michaele and Steve ran the table to take the Gold. Vicki and Bob just came up short against Michaele and Steve but claimed Silver with their 2 victories. Jackie and Kevin fought Brenda and Mark to stay out of the bottom and won their final game to get them the Bronze.
