Once again, the women did not disappoint and rocked Ezell at the 3.5 tournament today. Going into round 4, we still had 6 undefeated teams vying for a seat for the playoffs and, ironically, none of those 6 teams were scheduled to play each other for the next 2 rounds. It was looking like we were going to have a photo finish for the 6 and if that happened, we would have looked at the points against total to determine the final 4. But the other women teams rose to the occasion and were able to knock 1 out in round 4 and another in round 5, leaving a 4 undefeated teams to battle for gold, silver and bronze.
In the end, the team of Lori Mueller and Deb Miller Halterman put the pedal to the metal and ripped through the finals winning the first playoff game 11-1 over Melissa Six-Westerfeld and Lisa Graham, and taking gold over Diane Fuleky and Patti Verber, our silver medalist, by the same 11-1 tally.
Nicole Schwartz and Michaele Bryant Danielson won the bronze after being defeated by Diane and Patti in the first game, 10-12, and taking down Melissa and Lisa by the same score of 12-10.
