William McCorkle and Jodi Schaefer Win the Mixed Open!

Phenomenal day for some phenomenal play at today’s Mixed Open Doubles at the King Kong Tournaments!

St Patrick was kind to the 2 undefeated teams all the way into the final gold-silver game and boy did they give us a show. Too bad my camera’s memory card got full and I missed capturing the end of the epic matchup on video. Sorry!

Those final 2 undefeated teams were Team Kim and John Buffington at the number 1 seed, eeking out Team William McCorkle and Jodi Schaefer by 1 point in the tie breaker, 30 to 29. In the 3 spot were Team Dana Dodge and Mike Haye, with 53 points and +19 in the point differential, just beating out Team Nancy Summers and Robert Kraft, with an equal record but a point differential of +15.

The Buffs faced off and beat Nan and Bob 11-3, and William and Jodi took on and defeated Dana and Mike 11-1.

Both the Gold-Silver and Bronze games finished with the same score of 13-11. The Buffs fell behind early but clawed their way to even to at 11’s but could not overcome some amazing gets by William and Jodi. In the Bronze, both teams were evenly matched and coming down to the wire at 10-10 with Nan and Bob taking it at the end.

Kongrats to all the winners and participants! Really great games played all around. And thanks again to my volunteers, Ilene Greenberg, Tina Rosenquist, Julie Ferron, and Diane Fuleky for keeping on top of the scores, and all the fans who came to watch!
