What a terrific Sunday morning for the Women’s Doubles, Age 65 and Older, at the King Kong Tournaments at Ezell today! Sure, it was hot and humid and it got even hotter when the 6 teams step foot onto the courts to play.
The team of Cari Arnall and Nina Riley ran away from the field, sweeping everyone to a perfect 5-0 record and earning themselves the Gold. Coming in second for the Silver, and losing by only 1 point to Cari and Nina, were Lori Mueller and Eva Peters. Tammy Quinn and Maureen Plainfield claimed the Bronze, losing to only the Gold and Silver medalists. Kongrats to the winners and participants taking on the challenge.
Thanks again to my voluunteers, Chas Popplestone, George McGovern and Fred Veenstra for tracking the games and scoreboard, and the fans who cheered from the sides and online! Special thanks to Moon Toomey for keeping us fed with burgers!
