Women’s Doubles, Age 64 and Younger, is this Sunday!

The Women’s Double Age 64 and Younger, is this Sunday, July 21, 10a at Ezell.

FInal Update:
Well alrighty!
We managed to get 12 teams! Woot! Woot!
The signups have been randomized and we’ll split the group into 2 brackets of 6 teams, where each team will play each other once. Top 2 teams from each bracket will face off in a single elimination playoff where the first place finishers from each bracket plays the runner-ups from the other bracket. Winners will then play for the Gold and Silver and the losers contend for the Bronze.
As we are doing full round robins in each bracket, top finishers will be determined by Wins, and in case of a tie, head-to-head record, and then Total Points and Points Differential will come into play.
Attached is the updated line up! Let’s Go!
————————————————————————

There are 9 teams presently signed up. I’d like to get to 10! Plus, if you haven’t already heard, you can be over 64 and play in the 64 and younger division, with Nina looking to repeat Doug McClintock’s impressive back to back Gold in the Men’s Singles with the Women’s Doubles.

If we can get a 10th team, we’ll divide the group into 2 brackets of 5, where each team will play each other once and also sit once across 5 round robin games. The top 2 teams from each bracket would then meet for 2 more games each to determine the medals. Placement will be determined by wins, head-to-head results in a tie, then total points, and points differential.

In the case where we cannot field a 10th team, the options are:
  1. Place the last team signed up on the sub/wait list and the first 8 teams split into 2 brackets of 4, each bracket playing 3 round robin games and the top 2 finishers in each bracket proceeding to a second (final) series of round robin games to determine the medalists.
  2. Have a play in game with the last 2 teams signed up play a single elimination game, winners to proceed and play as the 8th team in the same set of round robin games in scenario 1.
Absent a majority decision amongst the teams, I will go with the second option as that will get everyone at least one chance to play.
