These are the Specifics:
- There will be 2 Winter Cup events, one for women and another for the men.
- Depending on the number of teams signing up, it can be 2 consecutive weekends of play, with the finalists from week 1 needing to return to face the finalists in week 2 on week 2.
Women’s Dates: Jan 7 (if needed) and Jan 14 (originally proposed date)
Men’s Dates: Jan 21 (if needed) and Jan 28 (originally proposed date)
The original intention was to have 6 teams of 6 face off in a single weekend but I understand that there twice as many teams interested in participating, hence splitting the event into 2 weekends each.
Here’s the catch, I can only work with either:
- 6 teams – single weekend of play only, 5 matches with 2 games per match
- 8 teams – 2 weekends of 4 teams, 3 matches but each likely to be 3 games per match, with the winners of the first weekend to return the following weekend to face the winner of week 2
- 12 teams – 2 weekends of 6 teams, with the winners of the first weekend to return the following weekend to face the winner of week 2
- Winners will be determined by Team Wins, Team Points with Team Points Differential and Head-to Head result as the tie-breakers.
Each team will need to have
- One 4.5 rated player
- Two 4.0 rated players
- Two 3.5 rated players
- One 3.0 rated player
Teams will need to play the following doubles games in each match:
Game 1
4.5 + 4.0(1)
4.0(2) + 3.5(1)
3.5(2)+3.0
Game 2
4.5+4.0(2)
4.0(1)+3.5(2)
3.5(1)+3.0
[Game 3 in the 8 team format]
4.5+3.5(2)
4.0(1)+3.5(1)
4.0(2)+3.0
6/12 team draw (repeated for second weekend, winners of first week need to return to play the final in second week)
Match 1 2v4 1v5 3v6
Match 2 5v2 6v1 4v3
Match 3 4v6 1v2 3v5
Match 4 3v1 5v4 6v2
Match 5 5v6 2v3 1v4
