What an amazing day to close out the King Kong Tournaments inaugural season of MLP play!
Today, we had the 4 best teams from the Challengers League do battle for the Gold, Silver and Bronze.
The #1 team all season, Rally Wreckers, won the Gold by first by taking down Made You Dink 4-0 in their semis and then 3-1 against the Can-Am Crushers in the Gold Silver match. The Women Wreckers’ played their part by decisively winning 21-12 and 21-13 in their doubles. The Men cruised to a 21-11 victory in the semis but got handed a close loss to the Men Can-Am team, 21-19. All 4 of the Mixed double matches broke the Wreckers way: 21-16 and 21-19 in the semis, 21-19 and 21-10 in the finals.
The #2 Can-Am Crushers earned their Silver by defeating Lucky 13 3-1, to get to the finals. The Crushers dominated the first 3 games, winning 21-16 in the Women’s, 21-8 in the Men’s, and 21-16 in the first Mixed double. Lucky 13, showed that they still had fight in them by taking the second Mixed double, 22-20.
In the Bronze game, Made You Dink captured the medal against Lucky 13 by first winning 21-15 in the Women’s and 21-17 in the Men’s. In the first Mixed, Lucky 13 battled back with their own win, 21-16. It all boiled down to the final Mixed game of the match and Lucky 13 just missed on getting into a Dreambreaker, losing to Made You Dink, 21-19, for the final game.
Great job everyone and Kongrats to the medalists and all the teams for a fabulous season! And thanks for the fans who came to support the teams week in, week out.
