It was another spectacular Sunday at the King Kong Tournaments with the Mixed 8.0+ going all out for Gold!
In the round robin play, 3 teams came away with 4-0 records and the fourth seed only had 1 loss by a single point to get them into the finals. On the front courts, the mother-son combo of Kim and Jason Hedden ran away from the field and had a +26 point differential to takr the top seed. In the middle courts, David Keller and MeiShen Chang did the same with a +21 points differential and Debbie McCarty and Rich Scappaticci was the top finisher for the back courts with a + 20 point differential. The best of the reast also came from the back court with Mark Montgomery and Kaylene Engel dropping their only loss by a point to Debbie and Rich. Will we have another revenge match?
In the Semis, Jason and Kim handled Mark and Kaylene, dealing them a 11-7 loss. For the other Semi, David and MeiShen poured it on and won 11-3 against Debbie and Rich, and, you guessed it, setting up a revenge game between them and Mark and Kaylene.
They say revenge is a dish served sweet and, after a slow start, Mark and Kaylene were able to savor a 11-7 win over Debbie and Rich for the Bronze. The Gold-Silver game was a well-balanced game going into overtime with the mother-son duo taking down David and MeiShen 13-11 for the Gold. Kongratulations to all the medalists and participants on an exciting day of play.
