What an incredible Easter Sunday here at The King Kong Tournaments for the Men’s Combined 8.0 games. And what a service it was for the 18 teams who came to preach!
The field was loaded with talent and only those who brought their A game made it into the finals. Today, the number 1 team was that of John Shable and Jim (Bootman) Faggiana, going undefeated and a whooping +34 point differential, followed by 2 more undefeated teams, Scott Petersen and Mark Beyer (+26) and Al Sabogal and Pepper Stokes (+15) for second and third. Rounding out the top 4 was the duo of Carl Marques and Bob Hanna with 1 loss by 2 pts and a total point differential of +27, edging out Craig (Woody) Horton and Robert Danielson with the same total points and wins but a+26 for the differential. Great playing, all around!
In the Semis, Carl and Bob took down John and Jim, 11-5, and Al and Pepper came back to win 11-9 against Scott and Mark. Carl and Bob worked their magic again to earn them Gold over Al and Pepper, 11-5, to give them the Silver. The play was spicy, with Carl body bagging Pepper at least once and threatening one more time (blame Carl if I need to raise the entry fee to add a medic to the team). In the Bronze game, John and Bootman trade blows with Scott and Mark and going into extra time before pulling out a 13-11 victory.
Well played everyone and Kongrats to the medalists! Thanks to my volunteers, Chas Popplestone and Kathleen Banashak and all the spectators who came out to watch and support the players this fine Easter Sunday!
