Man! It was another amazing Sunday at the King Kong Tournaments this Sunday at Ezell. The men brought their energy and then some, finishing the round robin play just before noon.
In the end 3 teams were left unscathed and unbowed, separated by 6 points in the tiebreaker, and the final team with a single loss by a point, reaching the semis. Leading the way was Team Tony Chiravolo and Scott Shore with a plus 28, followed by Team Rob Schultz and Mike Kaye with a plus 24, Team Brian Lasky and Kevin Jolicouer at plus 22, and Team Tim Tatum and Schuman Lau in fourth.
Tony and Scott continued their streak and took down Tim and Schuman, 11-5 to reach the Gold/Silver match. Rob and Kevin gave it their all but came up short against Brian and Kevin, 9-11.
In the Gold/Silver game, Tony and Scott pressed Brian and Kevin, switching ends at 6-1, and extending to 9-1, before Brian and Kevin staged their comeback to take the Gold, 12-10. WOW!
The completion was equally fierce for the Bronze, where Rob and Mike were finally able to earn their medal against Tim and Schuman, 11-8. Well played, everyone!
Kongrats to the winners and everyone who came to play and watch. We were all winners!
And thanks again to Chas Popplestone and Diane Fuleky for their time volunteering!
