It was another scorching hot day at the courts for Week 2 of the King Kong Tournaments MLP Summer League. And 2 teams stayed atop the leader board with 6 more points each, but trading positions for who is 1 and 2, with the Super Gremlins and The Slice is Right, respectively. Also swapping positions were the Dinkin’ Donuts, now at 3, and Let’s Make a Dill, at 4.
We had one Dreambreaker in Match 1 between Let’s Make a Dill and Dink-N Go-Nuts, won by Let’s Make a Dill, 22-20. They also went into OT in their first Mixed Doubles, won by Jason Powell and Jill Tuke, 22-20, over John Garcia and Nancy Walker.
As a matter of fact, we had several games go into OT during match play today, a testament to how competitive the games were today.

Incredibly, every game beween The Slice is Right and Carpe Dinkem went into OT!
Women’s Doubles, Evelyn Good and Rhonda Lakip-Ochoa (Slice) v Deb McCarty and Di Lampert (Carpe), with Slice winning 28-26 (!!!)
Men’s Doubles, Brian Owens and Oliver Sun (Slice) v Ed Serzo and Darrin Sacre, Slice winning again, 23-21
Mixed Doubles 1, Oliver and Rhonda (Slice) v Ed and Di (Carpe), with Slice taking it, 22-20
Mixed Doubles 2, Brian and Evelyn (Slice) v Deb and Darrin (Carpe), with Carpe taking the final game, 22-20
Match 2:
Mixed Doubles 1 between Let’s Make a Dill (Ron Grider and Marlene Windecker) and Dinkin’ Donuts (Vicki Ostrander and Chris Armstrong), with the Donuts winning, 25-23
Men’s Doubles between the Star Spangled Smashers (Chad Abney and Tim Nyitray) and the Cart Crashers (Jon Huffman and Frank Pindulic), with the Smashers on top, 22-20
Mixed Doubles 1 again between the Smashers (Kathy Konigsmark and Tim Nyitray) and the Crashers (Carolyn Roan and Frank Pindulic), this time with the Crashers winning, 31-29 (woah!)
Mixed Doubles 2 with The Gangsta’s (Tim DeMaria and Mandy Berg) v Carpe Dinkem (Ed Serzo and Di Lampert), the Carpe seizing the game, 22-20
