Blessed by another beautiful Sunday for week 5 of the King Kong Tournament MLP League!
In the Champions League, the top 2 teams of Dink Floyd and Simply Smashing clinched their positions in for the playoffs as the #1 and #2 teams respectively. The Floyds finished their match play with an incredible 19-1 record, followed closely by the Smashings with an impressive 17-3 record.
In the Blue division, things weren’t quite as settled as the Super DUPRs pulled off their comeback to win the division with a 3-1 victory over Born to Rally. Both teams finished with 11 pts but the Supers get the nod as the division winners by knocking off BTR. Don’t cry for BTR as they collected enough points and have the head-to-head victory in week 3 over OMG, who also finished their day at 11 pts, to give them the #4 seed.
The Thunder Chickens finished with 10 pts, along with the Red Hot Chili Picklers. The Baseline Ballers wrapped up the top 8 with 8 pts.
That sets up the playoffs between the Floyds and BTR in one match and Smashing v the DUPRs in the other match. Winners will meet for the gold and silver, losers play for the bronze.
In the Challengers League, the Can-Am Crushers continued their winning ways by defeating the Little Debbies and solidifying their hold on first with 14 pts in the Red division. Made You Dink pulled even with the idle Spinners & Smashers with their win over Team Six, each now with 9 pts.
The Rally Wreckers were in their bye week but held on to first with 12 pts over Lucky 13 and Ace Holes, both winning but remaining 1 and 2 points behind the leader, respectively.
Kongrats to the Floyds, Smashing, DUPRs, and BTR for making it into the playoffs and thanks to all the other teams and fans for showing up for our inaugural season of MLP play!
