Come watch the Halloween Charity Event on Sunday, Oct 27!

Couple of more changes. Unfortunately, Morag is not feeling well so she and Alastair have withdrawn. Feel better soon, Morag. I’ve re-aligned a couple of brackets as a result and, additionally, Curtis has agreed to play with Tom in Pong. Maybe we can get one of the teams playing Inflatables but not Pong to join.

Eliminated some dups and had Judy withdraw from the Inflatables due to an injury (feel better) and added Tom for Pong. As it stands, if you are playing team 6 in the Inflatables, you’ll have a bye for that game. Tom, as you are partnerless, we’ll see if there is a player from the Inflatables not signed up for Pong to play with you otherwise, we may have the same scenario and give a bye for team 6 in Pong.

This Sunday, 10a-2p at Ezell, the King Kong Tournaments is having their Halloween Charity Event to benefit the Sumter County Special Olympics, and we will be joined by Rebecca Christiansen and some of her athletes (as volunteers) from the Special Olympics.

There will be a 50/50 raffle and tickets are 6 for $5 or an ‘arms’ length for $20.

We will be holding two sets of games:
  1. Inflatables Pickleball
  2. Pickleball Pong
We have a good number of people signed up and I’m still working on some of the logistics for the games as we have at least 16 set teams for the Inflatables contest, with 7-8 single sign ups that I’ll need to work in, and at least 9 teams for Pong, 5-6 single sign ups there that I’ll need to be paired up.

We’ve collected around 30 buckets of various sizes and with the number of players signed up for Pong, we’ll need a total of 72 (12 per court) for everyone to play at the same time. If we have less buckets, we’ll re-configure the buckets accordingly to how many we have. Have a bucket or 2 you can loan us? Bring them to Ezell on Sunday!

We will divide the day into 2 halves:
  • Inflatables 10a-12p
  • Pong 12p-2p
For the Inflatables, we’ll be playing games to 9, win by 1. We will not be switching ends at 5 so pick wisely as to whether you want to pick ends first or pick to serve first.

For Pong, it will be timed games of 10 min and you win by eliminating the most buckets from your opponent’s side. You do not gain points on a serve, so play smart and show us that you can drop or dink your way to victory!

Come on out to watch the fun! And if you can’t make it out, tune in to the YT channel and watch from wherever you are: https://www.youtube.com/@JohnnyKingKong/streams
