It’s Ron and Luis for the Gold!

Eight teams braved the heat and added even more heat themselves with some really hot play at this Sunday’s King Kong Tournaments. The play was so hot that we needed to bring a sub in for Steve Testal after straining his shoulder in game 2 (thanks Fred Veenstra!).

After 7 punishing round robins games, the bottom of the line up became the top 3 finishers. Kongrats to team 8, Ron Rivas and Luis Garcia, for taking the Gold with 6 wins, 76 total points and a +47 points differential. They dropped their only game to the Bronze winners (team 6) and father-son duo of Tom and Donovan Psaris with 5 wins, 73 total points and a +29 points differential. They lost the opportunity for Silver by dropping game 5, 11-9, to team 7, Darrin Sacre and DJ Urig, also with 5 wins, 69 total points and a +4 points differential. Fourth and fifth place had a head-to-head tiebreaker with both teams finishing at 4 wins but in their game 3, team 1 with Joe Morais and Alan Detig, edged out team 4, Rey Sollestre and Carl Schultz, 11-9, for honorable mention. Great play, everyone!
