Mark Montgomery and Kathy Pals Perfect Today at the Mixed 4.0!

We got her done! Rain? Bah, the King Kong Tournament crew is second to none and despite the morning rains, we got the courts dried for the Mixed 4.0 Tournament today. Thanks again to Ted Kegeris, Ed Duran, Tony Chiravolo, Nancy Summers, Diane Lampert, and everyone else who chipped in to help!

With the courts dried, 18 teams came with their Sunday best, and, once again, we were not disappointed! One team made it all the way though the round robin undefeated and that was Mark Montgomery and Kathy Pals. In 2nd, 3rd and 4th, each with 1 loss each were Robert and Michaele Danielson, with 53 pts, Kathy O’Connor and Jack Hurst with 52 pts, and Debbie McCarty and Carl Marquess with 49 pts.

Mark and Kathy proved to be unstoppable today and Won the Gold by first beating Debbie and Carl 11-6, and then Kathy and Jack, 11-7. Kathy and Jack earned Silver by beating Robert and Michaele 11-7. Carl and Debbie got the Bronze by winning 11-7 over Robert and Michaele.

Sorry about the live feed on YT. Apparently the feed went dead before the tournament even started. I had a high temp warning on the phone when I went to retrieve it so the sun that broke through did me in.

I will have footage from my GoPro from Court 6, including games 1-5, the Semis 1 v 4, and the Gold-Silver match in a couple of days.

Thanks for all the players and fans who came to play and watch and thanks especially to my volunteers Sue Reich, Julie Ferron, and Gavin Mason to run the boards while I’m fooling around with my camera! Special thanks to Jan Stephens for the extra gift to the Gold Medalists!
